About VMUG

The Voyager Music Users Group (VMUG) promotes information sharing regarding Endeavor Information Systems' (now part of the Ex Libris Group) products and services, particularly as pertains to music, music users, and music libraries (or libraries that hold music). More specifically, VMUG provides a forum for airing concerns, educating one another, exchanging information, and proposing formal product enhancements that serve the needs of music users. Interest tends to focus on Voyager (WebVoyage, circulation, acquisitions, and cataloging), but has increasingly included other Endeavor products. See a more detailed Statement about VMUG (PDF) written in October 2003.

VMUG meets at the annual Music Library Association meeting, usually for an hour and a half on the last day. Other ad hoc meetings may occur at regional or local library meetings. Anyone is welcome, including representatives from libraries considering Endeavor products. There is no formal membership, though meeting attendance has been robust. Endeavor representatives occasionally attend. VMUG also has a listserv.

Purpose of the Web Site

The purpose of this Web site is to provide a central repository for VMUG documents: agendas, minutes, discussion documents, copies of formal enhancement request, links to supporting resources, and contributions from Endeavor libraries (e.g., guides or "how-to's"). This site is maintained by volunteers and does not replace Endeavor's more formal SupportWeb. (The original VMUG Web page was launched 30 October 2003 by Tracey Rudnick, Music Librarian, University of Connecticut with VMUG's approval February 2004; the new pages went live 20 May 2005.)
